Overview

Following the success of the first phase, the "Cafe Terrace at Night" exhibition, which attracted approximately 530,000 visitors in Kobe, we are pleased to announce the second phase: the "Langlois Bridge at Arles" exhibition. The Langlois Bridge at Arles (1888, oil on canvas), from the collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum, is one of Vincent van Gogh’s masterpieces, painted shortly after he moved from Paris to Arles, France. Regarded as a national treasure of the Netherlands, this work is rarely exhibited outside the country, and this marks its first public showing in Japan in approximately 70 years. The second phase, the "Langlois Bridge at Arles" exhibition, focuses on Van Gogh’s later years, showcasing his artistic journey in Arles, Saint-Rémy, and Auvers-sur-Oise through works from the Kröller-Müller Museum’s collection. Throughout a life marked by hardship, Van Gogh remained dedicated to his art until the very end, creating numerous striking works characterized by vivid color
