Nagasaki Shimabara Castle Admission E-ticket<Standard Admission ticket>
Overview
Shimabara Castle, which preserves the magnificent legacy of Azuchi–Momoyama–style architecture, offers a deep insight into the history and culture of the region.
Visitors can explore historical artifacts from the Shimabara Domain, spanning 250 years since the castle’s construction, as well as Christian-related materials and works by Seibou Kitamura, a renowned sculptor proudly associated with the local area.
The castle also presents materials related to the 1991 eruption of Mount Unzen–Fugendake, which resumed volcanic activity after approximately 198 years and caused tragic loss of life and extensive damage. Through these exhibits, visitors can learn about Shimabara’s story from the past to the present.
