We will also introduce lacquer, a natural material indispensable for kintsugi, including how it is collected and its history.
**2|Choosing a vessel**
You will choose one of the broken or chipped sake cups prepared in the classroom. There are a variety of shapes, colors, and patterns. It is a fun and enjoyable experience.
**3|Start of work**
With careful support from the instructor, the broken pieces are carefully glued so that they do not become dislodged, and the chipped pieces are repaired using putty. In the original kintsugi process, all natural materials are used and it takes a long time to dry, but in the one-day experience, safe materials that comply with the Food Sanitation Law are used and the work is completed in a short time.
**4|Preparing the repair surface**
Use sandpaper or a knife to smooth out any overhangs of adhesive or putty. This is an important step that determines the beauty of the finished product.
**5|Pre-finishing primer**
The repaired area is carefully coated with lacquer using a brush. The time taken to draw lines slowly and quietly flows by.
**6|Powder sprinkling for finishing**
Finally, the finishing touches are applied! Please enjoy the beautiful time when golden brass powder covers the repaired area. This is the most glamorous and moving moment when the vessel suddenly shines.
**7|Take it home**
The finished vessel will be delivered in a “Masu”, a wooden box with a charming aroma and warmth.
**8|Look at it. Taste it. Give as a gift**
You can display it as it is and love it, or you can send it with your feelings. Sake tasted with the sake cup that you have inherited is surely the best!
