Tanigawadake Ropeway by Hoshino Resorts is found in Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, and is easily accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area by car or public transportation in about 2 hours. Tanigawadake is considered one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains. The mountain shows its seasonal changes with lingering snow and fresh greenery in spring and summer, autumnal leaves in fall, and abundant powder snow in winter. Depending on the season, visitors can enjoy Tanigawadake in various ways, such as sightseeing, mountain climbing, and skiing/snowboarding. Tanigawadake Ropeway Tanigawadake Ropeway is a funitel ropeway — a design which provides a comfortable ride at all times, despite the harsh mountain environment and ever-changing weather. There are only three funitel ropeways in Japan, and this is the longest of them. Enjoy the 2,400-meter-long, approximately 15-minute aerial ride. Tenjin Pass Pair Lift This pair lift for sightseeing connects the ropeway arrival point at an elevation of 1,319 meters to the Tenjin-toge Observation Deck at an elevation of 1,502 meters. It takes about 7 minutes to reach the observatory. Seasonal alpine plants bloom at the foot of the lift, and especially in summer, when the Nikkoukisuge (day lilies) are in bloom, visitors can enjoy viewing the flowers while riding the lift. If you are lucky, you may even meet some of Tanigawadake's animals.
