Description
Kawazu Bagatelle Park, located on the east coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, opened in 2001 as a sister garden of the Paris Bagatelle Park. It covers an area of approximately 3 hectares and is planted with 6,000 roses of about 1,100 varieties. It is a French-style garden created under the guidance of experts from the Greenspace and Parks Authority of the City of Paris, in the spirit of being one of the most beautiful rose gardens in the world. The garden is centered around a standard type rose and surrounded by bush type roses, creating a rhythm between the two types of roses. Within this rhythm, symmetry and geometric patterns, another characteristic of French-style gardens, have been established to create a picturesque beauty.
Visitors can also enjoy a day full of roses, including a fragrance blending experience to create their own original fragrance, and a café where visitors can enjoy rose drinks and soft-serve ice cream.
