Key Information
Description
Join us on a journey through Tokyo's historical and modern sites on this Tokyo Skytree exploration and Asakusa history tour. This tour is perfect for anyone interested in immersing themselves in Japan's culture and history while enjoying modern-day attractions. Starting with Sumida Park by the banks of the Sumida River, our expert guide will regale you with the story of two fisherman brothers who found a Kannon Bodhisattva statue in the Sumida River 1400 years ago, leading to the origin of the Senso-ji temple. Asakusa developed around this temple, and the guide will share many fascinating folklore and stories intriguing to children, giving them a historical perspective. We'll then head to Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center, designed by a world-famous Japanese architect. From the open terrace observation deck on the 8th floor of the center, we'll have a preview of the entire tour course, including Kaminarimon gate, Nakamise shopping street, Hozomon gate, Sensoji Temple, and more. Next, we'll visit the Kaminarimon gate, the outer of two large entrance gates that ultimately leads to the Sensō-ji temple. The gate, with its huge red lantern and statues, is popular among tourists. The guide will demystify this giant lantern and its surrounding objects. We'll then stroll along Nakamise Shopping Street, a 250-meter approach lined with a number of souvenir shops and food stalls. The guide will show you where to buy souvenirs you are interested in and even buy you traditional snacks in Asakusa. After passing the Hozomon gate we'll see the five-storied pagoda, one of Sensoji's distinguishing features standing 53 meters tall. We'll have three major things to observe or do before entering the temple's main hall. First, you will draw omikuji, or paper fortune, to get a glimpse of your future. Second, we'll visit the incense burner and water purification fountain, where you can participate in the traditional purification ritual. Finally, we'll visit the temple's main hall, where you can pray and take in the beautiful architecture and artwork. Lastly, we'll head to the Tokyo Skytree area, where we'll climb to the lower and upper observation decks and enjoy the panoramic view of the city. We'll also stroll through the mega shopping complex, where the guide will take you exactly to the shops you are looking for, and you'll find there what you genuinely want to take back home, not to mention Japanese souvenirs. For groups of three or more, we'll use a headset to hear the guide's voice clearly. Don't miss this chance to experience the perfect blend of history and modern-day attractions on this Tokyo Skytree exploration and Asakusa history tour.
