Overview
Standing on the shore of Shinjiko Lake, the Shimane Art Museum boasts a unique theme of harmonizing with water. From March to September, it opens until 30 minutes after sunset so you can marvel at the stunning views of Shinjiko Lake at dusk — a view designated one of the "Japan Sunset Best 100."
Two types of e-ticket are on offer: choose from the Museum Collection (permanent exhibition), or both the Museum Collection and the Special Exhibition.

Presentation of a valid passport or Alien Registration Card entitles international visitors to a 50% discount on the special exhibition admission fee. (Admission for special exhibition varies according to each exhibition) Viewing is free for visitors with a certificate of physical disability, rehabilitation, or mental disability; chaperons are also free.

【Museum collection (Permanent Collection)】 The Shimane Prefectural Art Museum has a collection of outstanding works in the fields of painting, sculpture, crafts, and photography. The following exhibits are on display in Rooms 1 through 5, with the content constantly changing. Gallery 1: Waterfront Gallery, Early Modern Paintings/Japanese Paintings, Western Paintings/Western Paintings Gallery 2: Hokusai Collection Gallery 3: Crafts Gallery 4: Photography Gallery 5: Sculpture, Small Exhibitions
In addition to the Museum collection, special exhibitions are held at Shimane Art Museum occasionally. *Tickets are required to view special exhibitions. Please purchase a ticket for the "Museum collection + Special Exhibition". *Please check the official website for information on the contents of special exhibitions.

Opening Hours
- October to February: 10:00–18:30
- March to September: 10:00–30 minutes after sunset (admission ends at sunset) ‐Special Exhibition : April 19 - June 10, 2024 (Special exhibition: “Hatakeyama Memorial Museum Exhibition: Masterpieces related to Fumai Matsudaira and the Rimpa School‘’)
Closed:
- Tuesdays (Open daily during the exhibition of Japanese traditional crafts)
- December 28 to January 1 Note: If a national holiday falls on a Tuesday, the museum will open that day and close the following day

From reservation to entry, it's a simple 2-step process! 1: After booking your ticket on Rakuten Travel Experiences, an e-ticket will be sent to your registered e-mail address.
2: Exchange the voucher for an admission ticket on the day of your visit. On arrival at the facility, visit the entrance counter and click the link in the voucher e-mail sent to you at the time of booking.
