Description
Opened in 2002, the Shunka-en Bonsai Art Museum (or Shunkaen Bonsai Museum) is a museum in Edogawa-ku, Tokyo, that exhibits bonsai. Hidden away in a residential area about 20 minutes by bus from Koiwa Station, the museum offers a secluded atmosphere to enjoy the bonsai in peace.
The museum is directed by Kunio Kobayashi, an award-winning bonsai master, and visitors are free to browse the bonsai and contemporary galleries, which are arranged in a beautiful Japanese garden and a magnificent Japanese house.
Bonsai, an expression of traditional Japanese culture, attracts attention from around the world as a representative Japanese art form. The Shunkaen Bonsai Museum is the fruit of the growing desire to have as many people as possible experience the splendor of bonsai, which displays both beauty and the harshness of nature hidden within it.
See bonsai expressing the beauty of plants from season to season, including a collection of 1000-year-old pine trees. We invite you to enjoy it in a relaxing and uniquely Japanese setting.
