• You must be aged 10 or older, measuring 185 cm or under, and weighing 95 kg or under to join this activity • Children aged 12 or under must be accompanied by an adult aged 18+ • All kayaks are single-person kayaks • Please arrive at the meeting place on time. If you are late, the activity will be canceled without refund • Please follow the instructions of the guide; avoid acting independently • There is a steep descent on the way to the lake and Okutama Base, so you should be in good physical condition to reach the kayaking spot • In case of bad weather, the host will decide whether or not to cancel and inform you by 20:00 on the previous day if the activity is canceled


Visit Okutama in West Tama area of Tokyo for an introduction to kayaking amid the mountain forests just outside the city! Enjoy the abundant nature and beautiful vistas just 90 minutes by train from downtown Tokyo. A professional instructor from a local kayaking school will guide you through the entire experience. Besides basic kayaking skills, you will also have fun learning how to right yourself should your kayak capsize. Small class sizes of no more than six people mean that you will receive plenty of individual attention from your instructor. After a basic lesson, you will be ready to start kayaking in the calm waters of the manmade Lake Shiromaru on the Tama River. Everything you need is available to rent, so you do not need to bring any special gear to enjoy this experience. Simply follow the instructions of your guide and enjoy kayaking in Tokyo's hidden nature! You will learn how to paddle and steer a single person kayak while soaking up seasonal highlights, from cherry blossoms in the spring, lush greenery in the summer, or autumn leaves in the fall, as you navigate your kayak around the picturesque Lake Shiromaru. Choose either a morning or afternoon lesson. Daily lessons (April–November) for anyone meeting the following criteria: • Over 10 years old • Under 190 cm tall • Under 95 kg
