Key Information

Description

Just an hour’s drive from Tokyo (or two hours by train and bus), Mother Farm in Chiba’s Boso Peninsula is the perfect day trip to connect with nature away from the city rush. The farm-based theme park occupies a sprawling 250 hectares of space, on which there are multiple zones and attractions you can explore by hopping on and off the sightseeing buses making rounds around the park. Kids and adults alike will love being able to interact with the farm animals up close. Try your hand at feeding friendly cows, horses, llamas, and alpacas, or gently pet adorable rabbits and guinea pigs. There are also horseback riding and butter and cheese making activities to try, plus entertaining sheep herding demonstrations, duck parades, and pig races. Depending on when you go, fruits like kiwis (in autumn), strawberries (from winter to spring), and blueberries (in summer) may also be in season and ripe for picking. Pick and savor the fruits of your labor on the spot, or bring them back to enjoy later in your trip. The expansive grounds provide plenty of photo ops, especially in its fragrant fields of flowers with blooms that change with the seasons. Other attractions to explore include an amusement park with family-friendly rides and an adventure zone with a zipline and bungee jump. For an icy treat as the icing on top of a day out at Mother Farm, don’t leave without having its cafe’s signature creamy soft-serve ice cream and parfaits, which are made with 100% fresh milk from the farm’s own cows. Yum!
