Description
Explore two of Ishigaki Island's natural wonders on this tour: the mysterious Hamajima Island and the mangrove-lined Miyara River, Ishigaki's longest river!
Also known as "Phantom Island" because it only appears at low tide (and its appearance also changes depending on the tide), Hamajima is an uninhabited island that's just 30 minutes away from Ishigaki by ferry. This island that was naturally formed atop coral skeletons is a popular filming location for TV ads, dramas, and more because of its white sand and the crystal-clear blue waters that surround it. Have fun snorkeling here — admire coral reefs and the diverse marine life beneath Hamajima's waters!
After visiting Hamajima, you'll head to the tranquil Miyara River, one of Japan's designated natural monuments, for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) or canoeing. This river is known for its dense mangrove forest — mangrove trees only grow in areas with subtropical climates.
This tour is beginner-friendly, so don't worry if you lack experience in snorkeling, stand-up paddleboarding, and/or canoeing. Your guide will assist you all throughout, so guests of all ages are welcome! This tour also includes a photography service; after it ends, you'll receive digital copies of all photos taken during the tour — memories of your Ishigaki adventure!
