Description

The iconic Tsukiji Fish Market closed to the public but reopened as the Toyosu Fish Market. It is a well-designed and advanced new market in the area centered with a junction of the Loop 2nd and the additional line of the Tokyo Urban Planning Road 315th. Three city blocks 5, 6 and 7 are prepared for this new big project. Block 5 located in the east will be used for the Fruits and Vegetable Market, block 6 in the west for the Seafood Intermediate Wholesale Market, and block 7 in the south for the Seafood Wholesale Market and Market Offices respectively. Pedestrians overpasses from the nearest Shijomae Station on the Yurikamome Line are connected to each block. Below is the information about the new Toyosu Fish Market and old Tsukiji Market Town tour. An existing market town in Tsukiji still functions as the market not only for professionals but also for locals. Bookings for the same day or the day before is difficult, so please book ahead. Kiyoshi, an English-speaking guide, will show you around every step of the way throughout the fish market — full of endless rows of fish, fruits, and vegetables. He'll teach you why the New Toyosu Market has been built and the food industry in Japan from his many years of experience working in hospitality!
