Overview

Join us for a special event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the temple's World Heritage registration: “Special Opening of the Hitsu-butsu Honzon Shaka Nyorai Statue in the West Pagoda Shaka Hall and Special Opening of the Inner Sanctuary”! In the spirit of the Tendai Sect of Buddhism, “Shining a Corner”, Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple holds an interdenominational World Peace Religion Summit every year. In 2024, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Hieizan Enryaku-ji's registration as a World Heritage Site, a special exhibition of the Shakado, the oldest existing structure of Enryaku-ji, will be held for the first time in seven years. The exhibition, which drew 100,000 visitors the last time it was held, will be accompanied by a special exhibition of art that connects the world with prayers for peace. Visitors will experience a new world of Buddha through the fusion of the latest digital art technology with Enryakuji's oldest building as the stage.

**Dandelion Art Object by Artist Ryotaro Muramatsu** This is an art project to plant (install) “DANDELION” in various parts of the world and make flowers, a symbol of peace, bloom all over the world.
