Description
Amami Oshima was registered as a World Heritage Site under the framework of "biodiversity". In fact, only about 10% of the virgin forests remain on Amami Oshima, and Mt. Yuwan is one of the few areas of untouched nature that remain. Let's take a walk around Mt. Yuwan, where many endemic species remain. There are two routes to climb Mt. Yuwan, but on this tour, we walk up the wooden stairs from the parking lot at No. 9 to the observation deck and shrine near the summit. It is not a mountain trail, so it is easy to walk, and you can observe plants unique to Mt. Yuwan along the way. (Anyone who has no problem walking or climbing stairs in daily life can participate. It takes about 30 minutes to walk one way.) On a clear day, you can see a wide view of Amami Oshima from the observation deck. However, as the name "cloud forest" suggests, Mt. Yuwan is a special environment with clouds and fog all year round and a lot of rain. Therefore, you can only see the view from the observation deck if you are lucky... but for me (the guide), it is the rainy days that are the real sight. I would like you to experience this natural environment! After Mt. Yuwan, we will stop by Materia Falls for a commemorative photo and tea time. Schedule Meet at Amami City Naze Sports Park or pick up at hotel ↓ Move to Mt. Yuwan (travel time varies depending on pick-up location) Arrive at Mt. Yuwan parking lot ↓ Nature walk while observing plants and animals Arrive at observation deck and shrine ↓ Descend to parking lot ↓ Travel 15 minutes Materia Falls ↓ Return to hotel
