Important Information
・Age for participation Elementary school children - 65 years old. ・Please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the reserved time with your clothes changed. ・Please inform us in advance if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are taking any medication. ・Pregnant women are not permitted. ・Please do not participate if you are not feeling well or have been drinking or have had a drink. ・Wetsuits are available to rent (at an additional fee). Please let us know if you wish to use a wetsuit. ・If we judge it to be dangerous due to weather conditions, etc., it may be changed or cancelled regardless of whether you experience it beforehand or during the experience. ・Please participate on the assumption that you will fall into the water because it is an activity on the lake. ・Please be aware that the staff will be watching you at all times.
Description
Experienced and beginners alike are welcome to join, as they will be accompanied by a SIJ (SUP Instructors of Japan) certified instructors and SUPA (Stand Up Paddleboard Association) certified instructors.
[POINT 1] Beginners welcome! Enjoy the great outdoors! Only approx. 35 minutes by car from Sendai city towards Mt Jyoge. Okura Dam is a rare double-arch concrete dam in Japan that plays an important role as a water reservoir for the city of Sendai.
During the event hold is the best season, when there is plenty of water storage! Enjoy the submerged forests, waterfalls and natural formations to your heart's content on a SUP as you head upstream through the Okura River Valley!
For beginners, instructors will carefully guide you through the basics, such as where to stand on the board and how to hold the paddle.
[POINT 2] Rest stop possible at Okura Furusato Centre! The meeting point is the Okura Furusato Centre car park.
This facility was established by the city of Sendai to provide a place to nurture a rich humanity through 'nature experiences' and 'life experiences' that make use of the rich nature and history of life in the Okura area.
There is also an open space and camping area, which you are welcome to use in conjunction with the SUP experience! (Separate application required).
Free rest is available in an old house estimated to have been built in the early to mid-19th century. Pay shower facilities are also available for a fee in the centre's administration building, which you can use after your SUP experience.
[POINT 3] We will provide photo data of the experience. We will provide you with photographic data of your experience. 'I don't feel comfortable taking photos on the board' or 'I can't take my camera with me as it would get wet' You don't need to worry about this! Our instructors and staff will take good photos of you!
