Description
This 3-hour workshop will show you the depth of Ukiyo-e methods, especially the ai-zuri method which emerged during the Edo era (1603–1867). In ai-zuri, the color tones were set using only indigo (藍), which has been the center of the Japanese dyeing culture. The teacher Mr. Yamazaki is a professional botanical dyer and owner of a dyeing studio called "Kusakiya" located in Gunma Prefecture. His grandfather was famous as a dyer who revived botanical dyeing in Japan.
