Overview

MYSTRO is a reusable and hygienic ceramic straw from Japan. Why not make one your own, by adding your favourite designs to make a truly original ceramic straw? Transfer sheets are provided, so even first-timers can have a go!

After this painting experience, you can have lunch at a café run by a Mino ware manufacturer! Enjoy the food while admiring the colours and shapes of these locally made ceramics it’s served on.

At the end of the experience, you will receive a bowl to take home — so find your favourite piece of potter!

Please note that you may be sharing the experience with other guests/groups
Your creation will be fired again after the workshop, so it takes about 1–2 weeks to be ready
You can come back later to pick up your work, or have it sent to your home (postage payment required, about 550 yen each in Japan, pay onsite)
If coming by car, please note that parking is limited (18 parking spaces including 5 in front of the shop)

Description

MYSTRO was designed and developed as a ceramic “my straw” that can be washed and reused repeatedly, just like tableware, to address the global issue of marine plastic pollution.

This straw is designed as an alternative to disposable plastics, and is a contribution towards a sustainable society. We also aim to create products that pursue new possibilities for the environment and for the future that we can pass on to our children.

What to Expect:

10:50 Participants Assemble

11:00 Ceramic Straw ”MYSTRO” Painting Experience (about 60 mins) You will choose your favourite pattern from the picture transfer sheet, and stick it on two plain ceramic straws in the arrangement of your choice. It is very easy, and anyone can make a unique and beautiful straw this way!

12:00 Lunch and Drink (about 60 mins) Relax and enjoy a meal at Dachi Cafe and U, a café run by a Mino ware manufacturer.

Choose your favourite dish from the day's menu, and enjoy your meal served on Mino ware ceramics in a bright and relaxing space.

13:00 Dismissal After you have chosen one of the dishes to take home from the tableware provided, the experience ends.
