Description

The pottery was founded in 1804 and its tablewares were delivered as a purveyor for the Tokugawa Shogunate, Edo era (1603-1868). Since then, we have continued to light its kiln for generations to produce numerous ceramics and porcelain works that have been in step with times. It has been continuing to emphasize artistry, and Takuo Kato the sixth generation of the pottery was designated a living national treasure by Japanese Government. Since 2009, the Michelin Green Guide(a guidebook of historical tourist attractions in France)has awarded this pottery named Kobeigama a 2-star rating. That recommends it as "worth a detour" when you are in the area.
