The building was designed by renowned architect Kengo Kuma. Its facade was inspired by the traditional craft of "Kamakura-bori," for a design fitting to appear on the approach to the ancient capital of Kamakura.
The British Antique Museum is composed of four floors, each exhibiting antiques from different periods and themes. Each level is coordinated with themed spaces such as Sherlock Holmes's Room, the Victorian era, and The Georgian Room.
