Built on the site of Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium, which was the venue for the 1972 Winter Olympics, the Sapporo Winter Sports Museum offers a virtual ski jump, exhibits with memorabilia from the Olympics and other major winter sports events, and is right next to the Okurayama Observatory with its amazing night views of Sapporo.
Hokkaido is famous for its snow and Sapporo has a long heritage of winter sports. It was the first Asian city to host the Winter Olympics, and holding the Universiade Winter Games and other major events has cemented its reputation in the world of winter sports.
