Description
Mt. Fuji's historic Ochudo Trail is now often used as a recreational hiking trail and a route from Mt. Fuji 5th Station on the Subaru Line through Oniwa to Okuniwa.
However, among the religious, walking this Mt. Fuji path was once said to be one of the highest levels of Shugendo ascetic practices. In the past, only believers who had summited Mt. Fuji at least three times were allowed to walk the Ochudo Trail.
On this tour, a national government licensed, English-speaking interpreter, well-versed on Mt. Fuji's history and terrain, will guide you on the historic Ochudo Trail.
This two-hour trek will take you into the forest halfway up the mountainside to experience a richer, more verdant landscape than what you would experience on most Mt. Fuji hikes. Stone-paved sections along the way make this trail doable even for novice hikers.
You will see stunning views of the trail's natural landscape. Lake Motosu, Lake Kawaguchi, the Southern Alps, and more historic landmarks decorate this pathway up to the summit.
Whether you enjoy the budding blossoms of spring or the vibrant foliage of autumn, the seasonal beauty of this trail is breathtaking no matter when you visit.
Now, the rich beauty of this landscape is available to the public, but space is filling up fast. Let Rakuten Travel Experiences help you secure your spot so you don't miss out.
