Key Information

Description

The Mosaic Tile Museum is located in Kasahara-cho, Tajimi City, which is the birthplace of glazed porcelain mosaic tiles and boasts the largest production volume in Japan. It has all kinds of information about tiles and creates new possibilities. Designed by world-renowned architect Terunobu Fujimori for his creative architecture, the exterior is reminiscent of clay quarries for extracting raw materials for tiles. As a symbol of the local industry, it gives a mysterious impression of nostalgia and freshness. Based on a vast collection of tiles that decorate the monotonous walls and floors and create a pleasant scenery, the museum disseminates the information, knowledge, and techniques of tiles that have been cultivated in this area. Photos of the tiles taken by visitors were spread on social media and became a hot topic. In the museum, you can create your own original one by pasting mosaic tiles as your favorite accessories. The color, shape and size of the tiles can be freely selected. Fun and easy to make even for small children. You can choose from the accessories we have prepared and take it home after completion.
