Description

Housed in a converted 18th-century hospital, the world-famous Reina Sofía Museum (Museo Reina Sofía) boasts an eclectic and fascinating collection of 20th century Spanish art, from Picasso to Solana. Reina Sofía Museum is home to Madrid’s premier collection of contemporary art, with works by several 20th-century titans of Spanish art: not only Pablo Picasso, but also Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. The museum's crown jewel is undoubtedly Picasso's anti-war artwork, "Guernica," in Room 206 on the second floor. There are also a few pieces from non-Spanish artists — including Francis Bacon’s Lying Figure — but the museum's collection mainly revolves around Spanish art. Paintings aside, Reina Sofía Museum also boasts an impressive collection of sculptures, including some iconic works by Miró and a bust of Picasso by Pablo Gargallo. This vast museum organizes works by theme, so in order to see all of the Dalí paintings, you'd need to cover a fair amount of ground. That means that if you're an art aficionado, be prepared to spend at least a few hours here. To get the most out of your time, it's best to beat the crowds, so book your skip-the-line Reina Sofia Museum e-tickets with us now for smoother, quicker entry on your preferred date!
