This 3-hour, 12-kilometer bicycle tour will show you the real Bangkok that casual visitors rarely see. Explore the narrow alleys, markets, and backstreets of Bangkok's Chinatown. Then, discover the charming local area of Thonburi, nowadays referred to as the "living part of Bangkok."
Cycling in Bangkok brings you closer to the sights and smells of the local markets, the local lifestyle along the ancient canals, and the hidden plantations by the city center. It is the perfect way to explore quieter neighborhoods that are still inaccessible by car today. Setting out for the heart of Chinatown, this cycling tour explores its frantic market environment. Winding through narrow alleyways, our senses are awoken by the sights, sounds, and smells of a community in motion. We’ll ride past stores selling everything from recycled truck engines to Buddhist amulets. Locals worshiping at hidden temples, ritual paper burnings, and the "spirit houses" around most every corner are evidence of an ancient culture with deep, deep roots. Crossing over the Chao Phraya River, with glorious views of the city skyline behind us, we explore Thonburi, the historic third capital of Thailand. In contrast to the chaos of Chinatown, peaceful signs of local Thai life are all around, as we ride through the diverse residential communities. Inquisitive smiles and friendly greetings reinforce the feeling we have truly left the “beaten path,” and are now experiencing the real Bangkok.
