Set sail down the lovely Thu Bon River on this half-day tour and visit traditional craft villages in the area. You'll first take a 30-minute boat ride to Kim Bong Carpentry Village, a traditional craft village in Hoi An established in the 15th century by people from the northern provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh. Visit and learn about the shipbuilding area where wooden fishing vessels are built using traditional techniques. You'll also stop by the carpentry workshop where carpenters craft furniture and sculptures by hand. You'll then take another boat ride to Thanh Ha Pottery Village, which was established over 500 years ago. Here, you'll get to observe the villagers make pottery such as vases, pots, and kettles. Your next stop is Thanh Ha Terracotta Park. On display in the museum are masterpieces by local artisans, who have sculpted out of clay recreations of famous structures such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy), Taj Mahal (India), Sydney Opera House (Australia), the White House (USA), the Pyramids (Egypt), the Notre Dame (France), and more. Finally, you'll visit the home of a local lantern craftsman to learn the traditional art of lantern-making. Lantern making in Hoi An is recognized as one of nine traditional crafts in Vietnam.
