Mayuko's original and most successful class, Tokyo Cooking Class, has been attended by over 3,500 foreign visitors to Japan since the avid cook and teacher began her classes in 2015. Besides her classes in Tokyo, she also occasionally offers classes in Choshi, in rural Chiba Prefecture. Located in the northeastern part of the prefecture, Choshi is situated on a peninsula stretching into the Pacific Ocean, and is also the easternmost corner of the Kanto region. The small town is famous for great seafood, soy sauce factories, and its dramatic coastline. Classes will begin at 10:00. Participants will take the 07:37 express train from Tokyo Station and arrive in Choshi at 09:34, where Mayuko will greet you and take you to her house. Learn a homestyle approach to cooking simple and yummy Japanese dishes. Mayuko will teach you how to prepare delicious home cooked meals with simple recipes and techniques which you'll be able to use when you return home. All in-person classes are held in English and last for about three hours. The class takes place in Mayuko's grandparents' traditional Japanese wooden house, which was built just after WWII 70 years ago. Use this opportunity to visit Choshi as a day trip from Tokyo or even stay for a few days to explore its sights!
