Founded in 1927, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary just outside Brisbane is the first and largest koala sanctuary in the world, and is devoted to protecting native Australian species in a natural bush habitat. A Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary ticket is valid up to six months from the date of purchase, and covers admission as well as sheep dog shows, raptor flight shows, and wild lorikeet feeding. Around the sanctuary you can meet over 70 species of native Australian animals, such as dingoes, wombats, wallabies, flying foxes, and Tasmanian devils. Optional activities throughout the day include Touch a Koala, Dingo Photos, Snake Photos, Koala Holds, Platypus or Owl Encounters, and the Koala Discovery Tour!
