California's Highway One overlooking the Pacific Ocean is one of the world’s most scenic drives. Take a private chauffeur-driven tour for an unforgettable experience of Monterey Bay and Bixby Bridge, of Big Sur and of magnificent coastal redwoods.
Along the California Pacific Coast’s Highway One, Big Sur is one of the most scenic shorelines in the USA. This chauffeur-driven tour from San Jose will introduce the most magnificent sights of this beautiful stretch of the Golden State. South of Monterey are the iconic Bixby Bridge, Pigeon Point Lighthouse, the coastal redwoods of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, and the famous clifftop restaurant Nepenthe. Your driver-guide will pick you up at San Jose Diridon Station at about 9:30 am. Driving through giant redwoods and Silicon Valley, you’ll eventually reach the coast at Santa Cruz. Driving along Highway 1 you’ll pass through Aptos, Capitola, Elkhorn Slough, Moss Beach, and Castroville. Enjoy views of the fertile lands that hug the California coast, with endless fields of artichokes, strawberries, and more. Along the coast you’ll have glorious views on either side, with sand dunes to the west and the coastal mountain range beyond Salinas Valley to the east, and the Salinas River that empties into Monterey Bay. You’ll pass California State University Monterey Bay, Fort Ord National Monument, and the towns of Marina and Seaside, reaching Monterey and Carmel by 11:30 am. Continuing on Highway One through Point Lobos you’ll reach Bixby Bridge. Further south you can wander through the redwoods, have lunch at The River Inn or Nepenthe, or have your driver take you to wherever you want to see most. By around 3:30 pm you’ll return to Monterey. Depending on the time, you can take an optional drive through 17 Mile Drive and see Pebble Beach. Finally, the return trip goes to Prunedale and then Highway 101, crossing the San Andreas Fault, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy. The rural land finally gives way to the urban sprawl of San Jose, and you’ll reach Diridon Station again at about 5:30 pm, concluding the tour.
