Description

Dive deep into the mysterious world beneath our oceans at the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium, where 14 themed zones housing over 13,000 fascinating marine animals await! At Shark Valley, take the Shark Walk and watch the ocean's apex predators glide gracefully over your head in an underwater tunnel. The Sea Life Aquarium is home to some of the world’s biggest aquarium sharks, including grey nurse sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and whitetip reef sharks. Dugong Island shines the spotlight on the dugong, a gentle aquatic mammal that usually dwells in warm coastal waters. It's said to have inspired ancient mermaid legends after being mistaken as mermaids by early European sailors. Say hi to the aquarium’s only resident dugong, affectionately named Pig for his eating habits. After becoming separated from his mother as a baby, Pig was found and rescued from Forrest Beach in North Queensland. Despite being released back into the wild following a period of rehabilitation, he was later found washed up a second time. A decision was made not to release him again for fears he wouldn’t survive. Pig shares his enclosure with white spotted eagle rays, bamboo sharks, and dozens of species of fish. You can also encounter the iconic wonders of the Great Barrier Reef at “Day and Night on the Reef,” the largest Great Barrier Reef exhibit in the world. Here, an interactive recreation of the reef takes you on a journey of its transition from night to day. Observe over 500 creatures in a 1.7 million-liter display! Another highlight is the Penguin Expedition, where you can get up close and personal with a posse of king and gentoo penguins. Meet Sphen and Magic, a pair of male gentoo penguins fostering a baby gentoo together as an adorable and happy family of three. You’ll also meet Steven the curious gentoo, Nog the cheeky king, and little ones like Spinner, the aquarium’s youngest penguin. With 14 different zones ranging from the Discovery Rock pool to the Jurassic Seas, there’s something for everyone at the Sea Life Sydney Aquarium!
