Nestled in the woods of Chubusangaku National Park you'll find Zengoro Falls — a spectacular sight which is one of the Three Waterfalls of Norikura in Nagano Prefecture. In winter, the woods leading to Zengoro Falls transform into a snowy landscape and Zengoro Falls freezes up, its once-gushing waters dramatically frozen into a massive ice sculpture. Join this guided night snowshoeing tour for an up-close encounter with the astounding frozen Zengoro Falls, which is believed to have once been a place of worship for a mountain-worshipping sect that revered Mt. Norikura. This area is best explored on foot, and in the winter months when it freezes up and gets covered in snow, it is only safely accessible with snowshoes. While the terrain may be uneven, you can safely explore with your trusty snowshoeing gear and a reliable English-speaking guide. Exploring at night will show you serene nocturnal scenery that magically differs from the daylight setting. Darkness envelops the area, but with a headlamp on, you can illuminate the way and add a magical thrill to an exciting escapade! You’ll see how beautiful the surroundings look, sleeping silently and undisturbed. When the weather is nice and the skies are clear, you can catch sight of the beautiful moon and countless, twinkling stars scattered across the heavens.
